Nintendo just dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Ever Oasis during their E3 livestream. What’s more, you can try it out for free right now with a demo on the 3DS eShop.

Ever Oasis is the newest game from Koichi Ishii, the creator of the Mana series. If you’ve ever played the 3DS title Fantasy Life, this looks very similar with more of a focus on combat, puzzles, and growing your town. This game seems to be located entirely in a magical desert filled with helpful spirits and fearsome beasties.

Nintendo says, “As you explore the desert and solve puzzling dungeons, you’ll gather resources to build up your oasis with the water spirit Esna. Allies will join your cause, so equip them with weapons, and use their skills to slay towering bosses.”

These puzzling dungeons have come together with the help of GREZZO, the studio that rebuilt multiple The Legend of Zelda games for the 3DS systems. Dungeons will require NPC allies to complete, as they are designed to be too treacherous to take on alone.

Like any respectable RPG, Ever Oasis comes packed with side quests. You’ll also focus on keeping your oasis’s economy booming by choosing shops to build and stocking their wares. You get a cut of the profits, so you better manage them properly.

It’s unclear if the town customization goes beyond running the shops. It’d be nice to at least choose some color themes or other aesthetic features for your little oasis.

A free demo is available for download now from the Nintendo eShop.

Ever Oasis releases June 23rd for 3DS systems for $40.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
