Splatfest

It’s that time again! Another Splatfest is just around the corner, and Nintendo is pitting players against each other over the most controversial of topics: Which way should the toilet paper hang?

That’s right, Splatoon 2‘s upcoming new Splatfest event will ask players to choose teams based on which way they put their toilet paper on the dispenser, Nintendo of Europe revealed yesterday. Does the end of the roll face frontwards or face backwards?

So far only Europe’s Splatfest theme and times have been announced, but the theme will likely be the same for North America, as has been the case with previous Splatfests. Japan will likely have its own theme again. Its most recent competition pit McDonald’s fries against chicken nuggets.

For Europe, the next Splatfest kicks off on October 7th at 4:00 p.m. CEST / 3:00 p.m. BST and runs for a full 24 hours. We will keep you updated as other details are announced. As always, to sign up for the event head to the video screen in Inkopolis Square once it appears in-game and vote for which side you support. Then dive into online multiplayer during the designated times and go up against the other team in Turf War after Turf War.

The last Splatfest had players choose teams based on a super power preference: invisibility or flight. The winner of the competition will be determined by three numbers: popular vote, solo wins, and team wins. So be sure to fight with some friends in addition to on your own to support your toilet paper preference as well as humanly possible.

Stay tuned to A9K for more Splatoon 2 news, and tell us below which side you’re on this time! #TeamFrontRoll or #TeamBackRoll?

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
