Are you a huge fan of translucent gaming gear like us? Then you’ll love these new DualShock 4 controllers in three nostalgic translucent colors, announced by Sony today.

DualShock 4

The limited edition DualShock 4 wireless controllers feature a translucent top panel that shows the inner-workings of the device. Sony’s releasing these bad boys in three colors: Crystal, Blue Crystal, and Red Crystal. They even sound nostalgic — like old-school Pokémon games. My heart is happy.

Availability for the new controllers will be a bit strange. They’ll be sold only in the U.S. and Canada starting later this month, and each color will be available at a different retailer. You can pick up the Crystal version at GameStop (EB Games in Canada), Blue Crystal at Walmart, and Red Crystal at Best Buy. The reasoning behind this setup is beyond us, but we’re excited for the stylish controllers nonetheless.

Pre-orders for the translucent DualShock 4 controllers are live now. Go here to pre-order the Crystal version at GameStop, and follow this link for the Crystal Red one from BestBuy. At the time of this publication, Walmart doesn’t have its pre-order page for the Crystal Blue controller up just yet, so you’ll have to check back later for that one. As of now, the products are priced at $65.

So far only three colors have been revealed for this line, but we’d love to see more options like maybe Crystal Black, Crystal Green, or — dare I say — Crystal Pink. Also, a Crystal Purple version reminiscent of that classic translucent GameBoy Color would make us lose our minds. Hopefully Sony will respond to high sales numbers of these controllers and give us more variety in the future.

An exact release date has not been given for the new line of controllers, but we know they’re limited edition, so hop on those pre-order links if you know you want one — and come on, you know you do.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
