It was yet another excellent 24 hours packed with awe-inspiring speedruns at Summer Games Done Quick 2022 day three, with a slew of games both old and new on display. Since Sunday, SGDQ 2022 has been streaming an assortment of speedruns all in an effort to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders, a charity that brings medical aid to developing countries around the world. There are still four days left in the week-long marathon, sure to bring even more speedrun content our way.
While we weren’t able to catch every speedrun of the day, we had a wonderful time checking in on the marathon at every opportunity. There was a deluge of impressive runs to watch, with hours of entertaining content to dig into. Listed below are some of our favorite runs from SGDQ 2022 day three, but this is by no means a definitive watch list. We recommend using our picks as a starting point, as there were tons of speedruns that we missed.
Our Favorite Speedruns of SGDQ 2022 Day 3
To watch replays of these speedruns (and the rest of SGDQ 2022 day three), you can find videos on the GamesDoneQuick YouTube channel and Twitch VODs. We’ll do our best to update this article with videos and links as they become available!
Outlast (100%) by sharkhat87
Outlast is one our favorite first-person horror games of all time, so we were exceptionally hyped to see sharkhat87 speedrun this exceptionally disturbing title. Playing the 100% category, sharkhat87 raced around the Mount Massive Asylum, picking up every collectible and recording an assortment of creepy occurrences on their handheld camera. With tons of glitched movement and out-of-bounds tricks, this Outlast run had an interesting route that sharkhat87 and the commentators expertly explained. As a bonus, sharkhat87 also showed off a massive glitch used in the Any% route, which allows players to skip from the opening area of the game to the very last section.

Majuu Ou (Any%, Hard Difficulty) by Omnigamer
We always love checking out speedruns of retro games that have slipped under our radar, and this run of the Japanese-only release, Majuu Ou, was a wonderful treat in the morning hours of SGDQ 2022 day three. In this sidescrolling action game, players must defeat their arch-rival before they resurrect the all-powerful Demon King. Playing in both human and dragon form, runner Omnigamer breezed through this challenging SNES title on Hard mode. With cool boss fights and calculated movement, this run of Majuu Ou was a pleasant surprise on SGDQ 2022 day three!
Final time: 20:55
Ninja Warriors (Ninja, Normal) by Mega RetroMan
The beat ’em up genre has been a longtime favorite of ours, with its cathartic action and arcade-style simplicity. Mega RetroMan destroyed this ninja-themed SNES beat ’em up with ease, grappling and jabbing at an assortment of baddies and bosses. Playing as the blue-clad Ninja character, Mega RetroMan sped through the game’s eight stages in just under 30 minutes. If you’re looking for a laid-back speedrun and some impeccable fighting strategy, we highly recommend giving this one a watch!
Final time: 29:47
Mega Man: The Wily Wars (Mega Man 2) by The Blacktastic
While you might immediately associate Mega Man 2 with the Nintendo Entertainment System, there was a Sega Genesis remake pack called The Wily Wars that offered the first three Mega Man games in 16-bit glory. With his always-affable commentary and masterful gameplay, The Blacktastic performed a satisfying run of this remake while explaining the differences between the NES original and Genesis remake. Having never played The Wily Wars ourselves, it was awesome to see the updated visuals backed by The Blacktastic’s top-tier gameplay.
Final time: 31:49
Halo Infinite (All Missions No Tank Gun) by WaifuRuns
We thought that Halo Infinite was a return to form for the franchise when it was released last year, and we’ve been looking forward to a polished speedrun since launch day. Thankfully, speedrunner WaifuRuns graced SGDQ 2022 day three with a wonderful All Missions No Tank Gun run, a route that shows off tons of impressive movement tech, out-of-bounds tricks, and shenanigans with fusion coils. In just under an hour and a half, WaifuRuns blitzed across the Delta Halo using the grappleshot with fervor, completing every main mission and blowing up plenty of Banished to boot. This was undoubtedly one of our favorite speedruns of SGDQ 2022 day three, and a run that every Halo fan should watch.
Final time: 1:26:12
Super Mario Odyssey (Darker Side) by -ganon-
Super Mario Odyssey is an adored entry in the 3D platforming franchise for good reason, as this Nintendo Switch title offers a staggering amount of content to get lost in. While shorter speedrun categories skip over a large chunk of the game’s collectible moons and post-game levels, the Darker Side category tasks the runner with collecting 500 moons in order to reach the ultra-challenging final hidden stage. Displaying super optimized movement tech with satisfying cap-throw combos and unbelievably tricky jumps, runner -ganon- nailed this run while the knowledgeable commentators explained the often complex route with accuracy and ease. If you’ve got a few hours to spare, we can’t recommend this speedrun enough.

When SGDQ 2022 day three came to a close, the marathon has hit $545,000 raised for Doctors Without Borders. Like SGDQ 2022 day two, that’s double the previous day’s total, all thanks to the generous donations from viewers around the world.
