April Fools day is over now but the present from Sega is still currently downloadable and playable. The company released a new game on Steam called “8-Bit Bayonetta” which is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a Bayonetta game which has finally been released on PC.
While the game is a joke, it’s full playable and the game links players to a teaser website which is counting down to something. It’s possible that this countdown is also a joke but some players suspect that Sega has a real announcement to make later this month. The teaser website is counting down to Monday 10th of April.
It’s uncertain what this countdown is leading to but it most likely has something to do with the Bayonetta series. The website shows the classic gun boots used in the games. A PC release has been heavily requested by gamers over the years and this countdown has sparked a new round of debate over the possibility. Some fans have suggested that the countdown is leading to a new Bayonetta game which will be released on PC.
The ‘joke’ game however on Steam is full playable. While the game is relatively short, it does have 16 Achievements for players to try and unlock. There are now hints to how players unlock them and the description for the game is rather unhelpful. It states that “SEGA’s favourite Umbran Witch climaxes her way onto PC in pixelated retro glory”. The game is completely free to download and play making this one of the better April Fools jokes from the gaming industry this year.
Sega hasn’t confirmed if this game will be taken off Steam over the next few days. So interested players should download the game as quickly as possible if they want to test this April Fools joke. We will provide you with an update later this month once the countdown finishes next week.
