RTX brings the internet into the real world, which is actually a pretty terrifying statement when you think about it in any kind of depth. These three-day conventions to celebrate internet culture and gaming are hosted by online content producer Rooster Teeth (the guys who created Red vs. Blue aka the longest running web series of all time).

The Austin convention is next up this year and boasts a packed schedule, including a full weekend of Rooster Teeth-related programming as well as an animation festival. Attendees will have the chance to attend a special screening of Netflix’s new video game adaptation Castlemania and a special performance at Stubbs from electro-pop act Phantogram.

MONDO (the deliciously evil people who traumatized us all back in high school with Happy Tree Friends) will premiere their new animated series Lastman, an adaptation of the French comic series of the same name, alongside the global premiere of Deep Space 69 and a special screening of Adult Swim’s new series Apollo Gauntlet from MONDO‘s studio Six Point Harness.

“RTX is an incredibly exciting event, and their first-ever Animation Festival in 2016 proved to be so popular that it’s a perfect setting for us to show off our newest projects to an incredible group of fans,” said Brendan Burch, MONDO’s chief creative officer and president of Six Point Harness.

Apollo Gauntlet will have a special screening during the animation festival, followed by a panel discussion featuring series creator Myles Langlois — who also provides the voice of Apollo Gauntlet. MONDO’s Willis, Franklin and lead editor Tony Christopherson will also be on the Adult Swim panel.

And perhaps most importantly, the keynote speech will be delivered by none other than Andy-freaking-Serkis. Yup, actual Gollum. He’ll be joined by four-time Oscar winning director Joe Letteri, the current director of VFX industry pioneers WETA Digital, for a special panel, following by a special advance screening of War for the Planet of the Apes at the Paramount Theatre.

For the gamers among us, highlights include the exclusive premiere of the second season of Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode, following Jesse and their motley crew of blocky misfits as they journey through more Minecraft adventures. After Jesse’s hand gets stuck in an artifact, it’s up to friends old and new to save the day once more.

The Rooster Teeth team will be hosting a crowd play on the center stage for episode one and those in attendance will be able to contribute to choices that are made in the game, either by shouting out or using a new smartphone app. If you can’t be there in person, you’ll still be able to check out the game via Rooster Teeth’s Twitch channel.

RTX Austin runs July 7-9 at the Austin Convention Center, Hilton Austin, Hyatt Place, JW Marriott, and the Paramount. You can purchase single day and weekend tickets at www.rtxaustin.com.
