Vehicular soccer game Rocket League is racing toward its second anniversary, and the team at Psyonix is gearing up to give players a new arena, cars, music, explosions, and more to celebrate.

The free anniversary update will be available on all of the game’s platforms on July 5th, Psyonix announced on their website. The event’s trailer, above, highlights all the features players will receive with the update.

The headlining addition for Rocket League’s anniversary update is a new arena called Champions Field, which will be available in competitive, casual, and private matches. This stadium will be playable in Competitive Season 5, which begins on the same day as the update.

Two new Import Battle Cars, Animus GP and Centio V17, also come with the update. They will be attainable only as drops from the Overdrive Crate, which includes other goodies like Trails, Decals, and Black Market items. Also, celebrate your goals with gusto with three new explosions — fire, ice, and purple fireworks.

You’ll be able to work towards a total of six new achievements and trophies after the July 5th update, no matter what platform you play on. Some are simple and some require more work. See a rundown of the upcoming achievements on Psyonix’s website.

Additionally, Rocket League’s in-game radio will get an upgrade with 18 new exclusive songs from EDM label Monstercat. For more audible treats, the game’s engine audio system is getting an overhaul with some new and some revamped engine sounds.

Psyonix assures us even more updates and features will come with this anniversary update. Look out for the official patch notes in the coming weeks.

Rocket League is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and the 2nd anniversary update goes live July 5th.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
