Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Read Dead Redemption 2 will be releasing on October 26th of this year. The anticipated sequel to the Western-themed action-adventure game was originally slated for a fall 2017 release but was delayed to spring 2018. Though Read Dead Redemption 2 has been pushed back again, we now have a solid date for PS4 and Xbox One releases. The announcement came from Rockstar Games’s official website, which explained the delay was necessary to fine tune the game before launch.
“We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish,” the announcement stated. “We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 follows protagonist Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang “as they rob, fight, and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.” Expect lots of Western gun fights both on and off horseback.
The title is coming to PS4 and Xbox One with no mention of a PC version. Rockstar’s last major game, Grand Theft Auto V, ended up making its way to PC, so maybe the Western adventure will follow in its footsteps. There’s still quite a bit of time until the release date rolls around, so expect more news from Rockstar over the coming months.
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th. It’s up for pre-order from GameStop and a few other major retailers, including Newegg which is currently offering $10 off.
