Ubisoft released two announcement videos yesterday about their tactical FPS game, Rainbow Six Siege.
Rainbow Six Siege was confirmed to be getting a new expansion earlier this month when it was confirmed to be called “Operation Velvet Shell”. The new DLC was confirmed to be adding a map based in Spain and two new operators to the game.
Last week, Ubisoft released a map teaser video. The video confirms that the new map is set in a night club in the party capital of Europe, Ibiza. The brief trailer confirmed players suspicions that the first expansion in the Year Two of content was going to be Spanish themed.
The new expansion will be released on February 7th.
New Operators
Ubisoft has only teased one new operator so far. The new confirmed operator is Jackal who is able to use his visor to track footprints across the map.
It’s still unknown if this new operator will be on the side of the Attackers or Defenders. The second operator with this free expansion has not been revealed by Ubisoft yet.
Players who have purchased the Year Two Season Pass will be given these two operators for free and will get early access to them. Other players will need to purchase them using the in-game currency which is collected by completing games.
Free Weekend
Ubisoft has also confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege will be getting another free weekend this week ahead of the new expansion.
Players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC will be able to download and try the game for free. After the weekend ends, players will keep their progress if they choose to purchase the game afterwards.
The free weekend is scheduled to run from February 2nd – 5th so it will end just before the release of the new expansion.
