PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will see the end of its current competitive season later today, as the game’s leaderboards are being wiped to prepare for the next season. PUBG Corp. announced the resetting of the leaderboards on the PUBG help Twitter account last night.
The announcement for the end of the current competitive season confirmed the PUBG leaderboards will be reset on February 26th at 6:00 p.m. PT / February 27th 3:00 a.m. CT. This reset will only effect PC players, and the Xbox One leaderboards will remain in tact.
PUBG Corp. informed players of the reset less than 24 hours before the leaderboards are scheduled to be wiped with no solid date for the start of the next multiplayer season. The short notice caused some upset among competitive players, who would have preferred more time to climb the leaderboards before the end of the season. Most competitive games give their communities fair warning and a schedule for seasons’ start and end times, but the PUBG team is less than traditional in many aspects.
After the leaderboards are reset later today, any ranked matches will not actually count since the game is between seasons. You are welcome to play in ranked matches and keep the competitive spirit alive, but you will not rank up from any of those delicious between-season chicken dinners.
Although PUBG Corp. did not give a start date for the next competitive season, we should hear an update from them soon. Follow PUBG‘s official Twitter and the game’s support account to stay on top of the latest news, and check back with A9K for more detailed reports.
