Bethesda has released a new trailer which confirms the release date for the new Prey.
The new gameplay trailer reveals that Prey is due for release on May 5th later this year. The new trailer also teases the story and provides a bigger insight about the aliens in the game.
The trailer revealed that the scientists at the Talos 1 Research Facility were performing experiments with the aliens. As expected, something goes wrong and the aliens escape their holding cells on the space station.
Main character Morgan Yu was involved in the experiments as a human tester for the Neuro Modifications created from the aliens. As a result, he’s gained abilities similar to them. He’s now able to shapeshift into different objects such as the mug seen in a earlier trailer for the game.
After the aliens escape, Morgan must hunt them down and destroy them before they reach Earth. In the trailer Morgan says “I’m sorry. I wish there was another way. Nothing can survive” which seems to spoil the story a little bit. What this statement means should be revealed when the game is released layer this year.
Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack
The trailer ends with the unveiling of some pre-order bonuses.
The exclusive Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack includes a special Margrave Shotgun and Ammo Plans. It’s still unclear what role “Ammo Plans” have but it suggests that players will be able to craft ammo for their weapons.
The pack also includes 2 medkits, 3 transtar neruomods, 1 recycle shielding chip set and several starter fabrication materials. Bethesda has yet to clarify what the “starter fabrication materials” actually are but it’s possible this has something to do with the shapeshifting ability.
Prey is being developed by Arkane Studios and will be published by Bethesda on May 5th. The game will be released for Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
