You’d trade anything for a Dragonite. And soon you can.

pokemon go trading

Pokémon GO has been sweeping the globe since its debut in July 2016. According to SensorTower, the mobile app game was downloaded more than 10 million times within a week of its release, making it the fastest app to do so. It started off with around 45 million daily users, though about 10 million users reportedly left in August. While this seems like a large hit, tens of millions of users are still catching and evolving Pokémon on their phones every day. And the developers, Niantic Labs, have some plans to bring back those lost users and keep current players interested.

Trading System

Reports have indicated that player-to-player trading will be available in a coming update. According to Pokémon GO Hub, this update could be coming this month (October). Trading Pokémon with other players is a hallmark of the video game franchise, and Niantic is finally able to give in to the hype for it.  You know your friend you hate for having two Charizards already? Soon you can persuade him to trade you his extra for one (or ten) of your Pokés!

Legendary Pokémon

In addition to trading, Pokémon GO will also be adding new Pokémon into the wild for us to hunt down. Although there are no reports of a new generation being added until 2017, we are hopefully gaining the legendary birds Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno, as well as Mew and Mewtwo. These Pokémon likely will only be available at special locations, such as historic landmarks across the world. No release date is confirmed yet, but many have speculated these legendaries will be available towards December of this year.

PvP Battles to Come

Niantic has also confirmed the roll out of another highly requested feature: player-versus-player battling. We have no details of the battles or a specific release date. Rumors and insiders say PvP battling will likely be in an update close to the end of 2016.

What new feature are you most excited to see? Pokémon GO is releasing updates frequently, so keep your eye out for a Mewtwo, especially if you live near any mysterious dungeons or caves.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
