A free trial and 50% price reduction: This is the perfect time to dive in to Rainbow Six Siege.

Rainbow Six Siege

Attention Xbox One and PC gamers: one of the best tactical first-person shooters of all time is free to play all weekend! That’s right, Rainbow Six Siege is letting you get a taste of its white-knuckle, team-based, tactical greatness for a few days – free of charge. If you’ve never played Rainbow Six Siege, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot this weekend and see what you think. I know you’re looking forward to Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare but, trust me, once you spend a few hours playing Siege and get wrapped up in a good squad that actually communicates and works together, you’ll forget about all those other games. Siege is still my top FPS of 2016.

Ubisoft knows how passionate its fans are, and it wants to make a fan out of you. To that end, Siege is free until early Monday afternoon. You can download the full game from the Xbox Live Games Store, or from Uplay if you’re playing on PC. Here’s a tip: right when you start, begin by watching the three intro tutorials from the start menu. They’re quick, and each tutorial nets you 200 renown (in-game currency) just for watching, plus an extra 200 once you’ve watched all three. In about 20 seconds you’ll have 800 renown, which is more than enough to purchase your first operator to use in multiplayer. To get a grip on controls, I highly recommend you play through the first single-player “situation.” Completing it will get you the extra renown you need to buy another operator.

R6 Siege

With one defensive operator and one offensive operator, you’ll be good to go online and try out some thrilling multiplayer matches. Just remember to proceed slowly – this isn’t Call of Duty – and communicate with your team. If you have fun and decide you’d like to purchase the game, Ubisoft is offering it at a 50% discount through Sunday. Have fun, and check out this clip of me playing Rainbow Six Siege if you need a little inspiration:
