Virtual reality game Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul has finally received an official release date when it will come to PS4. It’s set to launch on August 15th as a PSVR title.
While the game has been available for Steam users for some time now in Early Access, this release date marks the first time that the title will be available on a console. Steam reviews are mostly positive, with 77% of users giving it favorable scores, though some mention crashes and clunky VR.
It’s made by LA-based virtual reality developers at VRWERX, who are also working on VR titles based on the Mission: Impossible movies and the life of Jesus himself. The team is promising support for Paranormal Activity: The Last Soul after release, saying updates are in the works. While we don’t know if “updates” mean DLC’s or simply bug fixes, it’s good to know the horror title will continue to be supported even as the company works on other projects.
The Lost Soul is based on the mythology from the popular found-footage-style Paranormal Activity movies, though the game won’t focus on the plot of any particular installment. It will feature the same type of storytelling as the film franchise, but you’ll experience a whole new terrifying adventure in this game.
As the player, you’ll be dropped into a house in the middle of the woods, where — surprise — something spooky is happening. VRWERX says Paranormal Activity: The Last Soul will offer up to 10 hours of first-person virtual reality gameplay filled with spooky happenings and plenty of jump scares.
Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul is scheduled to be released on PS4 for PSVR on August 15th.
