The free No Man’s Sky update is available to download now.
After much post-launch criticism, developer Hello Games has been gradually improving No Man’s Sky into what the hype promised.
Today, they added to those improvements with update 1.2, called the Path Finder Update. The update’s trailer, posted above, goes over the main additions and fixes, and the No Man’s Sky website goes into even more detail.
The Path Finder update adds PS4 Pro and 4K support, though the update should make No Man’s Sky look better on all PS4’s and PC’s. Devs enhanced the visuals with high res textures, improved lighting, crepuscular sun rays, and HDR support.
Hello Games is building on past upgrades by adding the ability to share bases, which were introduced in the Foundation Update. Players can share bases they’ve created through the Steam Workshop, where bases can be visited and rated.
Starships are now broken down into four new specializations and classes, pictured above. According to Hello Games, “Shuttles are all-rounders, Fighters specialize in combat, Haulers have expanded cargo holds, and Explorer vessels feature increased warp capabilities.”
Additionally, No Man’s Sky now features a Permadeath mode for the ultimate survival gameplay, as well as new wheeled vehicles for better planetary exploring–and also racing.
That’s just part of what the Path Finder Update is bringing to No Man’s Sky. You should head to the game’s website to see all the details, or you could just download it for yourself and experience the upgrades firsthand.
