The next major update for Overwatch goes live tomorrow, January 23rd, with a ton of new content. The update will bring new skins, emotes, icons, and sprays to the hero first-person shooter permanently as an expansion to the game’s core cosmetic collection. Players will also see a brand new map based on several different Blizzard titles.
Headlining tomorrow’s update is Overwatch‘s Blizzard World map, which looks like a medieval theme park with attractions based on a plethora of Blizzard franchises, such as Warcraft, StarCraft, The Lost Vikings, and Diablo. The Blizzard World stage, which supports both Assault and Escort game modes, is loaded with high ground, flanking routes, and environmental hazards.
On top of the new map, all 26 of Overwatch‘s heroes will receive new Epic and Legendary skins, as well as other cosmetic items in tomorrow’s update. The 100+ new cosmetics will be available permanently from loot boxes and the Hero Gallery. Blizzard has revealed a handful of the new skins and emotes coming in the update. You can browse through some of the hero’s upcoming skins in the gallery above.
Most recently revealed is Black Cat D.Va, a Legendary skin for the popular mech suit hero. Blizzard showed off D.Va’s new skin on Twitter with a short clip showing the hero both in and out of her suit. Out of her mech, D.Va is wearing a black dress, tights, and gloves, topped off with black and pink cat ears. Her mech suit follows the black and pink theme and also features cat ears and a tail.
There’s much more coming in tomorrow’s Overwatch update than what Blizzard has revealed, so stay tuned for a rundown of the cosmetic collection expansion. The patch does not have an exact release time, but Overwatch updates typically go live between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. PT.
