More loot coming throughout the year.

Blizzard

Blizzard Entertainment and Twitch today announced a new partnership between the companies. As part of the two-year deal, streaming site Twitch will be broadcasting “select Blizzard esports content,” including the Overwatch APEX League and Premier Series and World of Warcraft Arena Championship.

The partnership will also bring free in-game loot to Twitch Prime members in various Blizzard games, beginning with a golden loot box in Overwatch. Twitch Prime is included as part of Amazon Prime subscriptions, so if you’re already on your free 2-day shipping game, connect those accounts for free loot!

The Overwatch loot box is available starting today June 20th until August 10th, and it includes a guaranteed legendary item.

Ten additional Overwatch loot boxes will be coming to Twitch Prime members in the following months, along with other promotions for Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm.

As for esports, Twitch’s deal with Blizzard includes the following events:

  • Heroes of the Storm Global Championship (HGC)
  • StarCraft 2 World Championship Series (WCS Circuit)
  • Hearthstone Championship Tour (HCT)
  • Hearthstone Global Games (HGG)
  • World of Warcraft Arena Championship
  • Overwatch APEX League
  • Overwatch Premier Series

“We founded Twitch as a gaming platform heavily based on our community’s reaction to games like Blizzard’s StarCraft II,” said Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch. “Since then, our large, but tight-knit community, our constantly evolving suite of interactive features, and a native emote-driven chat language celebrated by viewers enable us to support and grow Blizzard esports in a manner that best serves our collective fans. This includes providing Blizzard fans with exclusive in-game content for those who subscribe to Twitch Prime, another defining and cherished component of our brand.”

More details about the partnership, including information on how to connect Twitch, Amazon, and Blizzard accounts and how to get your in-game loot, are available on Twitch.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
