First Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Characters Revealed

  • February 19, 2018
  • Mischa McGill

The first downloadable characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ have been confirmed. In addition to the 24 fighters the game comes with, Bandai Namco will be adding eight DLC characters for those who purchase the game’s expansion pass. The first two of these characters were revealed to be Legendary Super Saiyan Broly and Bardock, Goku’s father.

The news came from the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump (via Gematsu). The additions of Broly and Bardock were confirmed but not given a release date. However, we do know a few details for how you will fight with these new characters.

According to Gematsu, Broly’s special attack is Gigantic Meteor — a huge ball of energy that uses three Ki gauges. Bardock’s special attack is called Revenger Assault, which transforms the fighter into a Super Saiyan and delivers a rush attack. The two went head-to-head in Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, which could be why they’re releasing together in the latest Dragon Ball title.

Broly and Bardock will be included with Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s expansion pass, though individual pricing for the fighters was not revealed. The expansion pass costs $35 and will include at least eight total new characters not available through regular gameplay.

A9K’s Matt Owen calls Fighterz “an absolutely beautiful game, and it’s awfully fun to play.  However, I think it’s the kind of fighting game that is best played with friends.” Read more of his thoughts on the full game in our official review.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
