We’ve got a new comparison video, and it looks… Okay.
Batman: Return to Arkham has traveled a bumpy road to our PS4s and Xbox Ones. Return to Arkham contains remasters of the two best super hero games ever made: Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The game was originally due out toward the end of July, but Warner Bros. saw fit to delay it “indefinitely.” The delay was supposed to give studio Virtuous Games more time to “deliver a polished Arkham experience.” Believe me, Return to Arkham needed that delay. The original comparison video showing side-by-side shots of the original game next to the remaster were embarrassing; the original looked much better.
I figured that we’d probably see Return to Arkham some time toward the holiday season if not early 2017 but, as it turns out, it’s coming much sooner. Yesterday Warner Bros. revealed that Batman: Return to Arkham will launch on October 18 on PS4 and Xbox One.
A new comparison video has been released and the game still looks like it could use a little work. Lighting effects and environments do look to be improved a bit, but something about the character models is still off. The Joker looks muted, flat, and dated compared to his Xbox 360 / PS3 counterpart.
At any rate, if you never played the originals, this is a great way to snag two fantastic action games for one low price. At $49.99 USD it’s hard to turn down. Of course, if you want the definitive Arkham Asylum / City experience, you’ll want to play them on a capable PC.
