Day 3 of AGDQ 2023 was another 24 hours of speedrunning excellence all to raise money for a good cause. With the marathon going full steam after 2 days of speedruns already in the bag, AGDQ 2023 trucked on with even more quality content this Tuesday. We spent a good portion of the day feasting our eyes on the speedrunning glory, so we’ve whipped up a list of our favorite speedruns from the day!

The Best Speedruns of AGDQ 2023 Day 3
Ape Escape 2 (Any%) by Liquid Squid
The first speedrun of AGDQ 2023 day 3 was also one of our favorites, as speedrunner Liquid Squid showed off the cheery collect-a-thon Ape Escape 2. Wholesomely chill and with interesting tricks, this Ape Escape 2 run gave us that warm cozy feeling. Blade II (Any% NG+) by Mattmatt
Licensed games based on movies aren’t always the best, but judging from this performance by Mattmatt, they occasionally make for great speed games. Based on the movie of the same name starring Wesley Snipes, Blade II is a third-person shooter akin to Max Payne, but runner Mattmatt rarely plays the game as intended. In addition to loads of out-of-bounds glitches and deft vampire slaying, this run also features developer commentary, offering further technical explanation and some behind-the-scenes tidbits.

Goat Simulator (All Trophies Base Game) by Riekelt
Goat Simulator is one of the funniest games of all time and Riekelt did a superb job of showcasing this goofy adventure game. Playing as a particularly troublesome goat, Riekelt caused mayhem around the suburbs, city, and even an MMORPG-style map. Aiming to pick up all of the collectible trophies scattered around the game, Riekelt wrapped up this Goat Simulator speedrun in under 20 minutes, making it a quick and highly humorous watch.

Burnout Paradise Remastered (Big Surf Island Any%) by sawtoooooth
There haven’t been many racing games featured in AGDQ 2023 so far, so it was a pleasure to watch runner sawtoooooth blaze through Burnout Paradise‘s Big Surf Island DLC with remarkable speed. Driving the P12 88 Special, a unique car modeled after the hovering DMC DeLorean from Back to the Future, sawtoooooth boosted through all of the game’s challenges in under 30 minutes. Loaded with explosive car wrecks and white-knuckled velocity, this Burnout Paradise speedrun was one of our favorites from AGDQ 2023 day 3.

Fashion Police Squad (Any%) by danejerus
Fashion Police Squad is a retro-inspired FPS that replaces the usual evil enemies for poorly-dressed saps that require some forcible fashion adjustment. As a fashion police officer, it’s your job to use your drip cannon and other style-improving weapons to punish fashion crimes. Matching this surreal game with equally eccentric energy, speedrunner danejerus performed tough tricks and kept things entertaining, even taking a dance break in the middle of the run. Thoroughly amusing and with great commentary to help you keep track of the action, this Fashion Police Squad speedrun helped make AGDQ 2023 day 3 fabulous.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Any% Race) by SuperViperT302, HardcoreGaming, ImJhay, and MutantsAbyss
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is (in my humble opinion) the best platformer game ever released on the Wii, with super creative level design and notably challenging platforming. This 4-runner Any% race features some of the best speedrunners in the Super Mario Galaxy scene, all pushing themselves to the limit to achieve a first place finish. Pushed by the spirit of competition, one runner even managed to nab a world record (we won’t spoil it for you)! Excellent commentary and ridiculously high-level gameplay await in this hyped speedrun from AGDQ 2023 day 3!

As AGDQ 2023 day 3 ends and the halfway point of the week draws closer, the marathon has raised over $490,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. While the speedruns are tons of fun to watch, it’s seeing the donation total tick higher and higher that really makes our hearts soar. Keep up the great work, Games Done Quick!
