Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series, has assured fans that Kingdom Hearts 4 will not face any delays beyond its late-2027 release window. Speaking at a Kingdom Hearts panel during Disney’s D23 conference in Anaheim, Nomura addressed concerns following Square Enix’s announcement of the release window. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, he stated, “I just wanted to set the record straight – that is not happening. So I do hope that people do look forward to the game coming in 2027.”
Nomura, who has directed every game in the series, emphasized that marketing for the game has only just begun and encouraged fans to anticipate more news as the campaign progresses.
Coco is the First Confirmed Disney World
The D23 presentation also revealed that Pixar’s Coco will be featured in Kingdom Hearts 4, marking the Land of the Dead as the first Disney-themed world confirmed for the game. This setting aligns well with the series’ themes of memory, family, and emotional connections, which have been integral to its storytelling and gameplay.
Additionally, it was announced that a Kingdom Hearts animated series is in development for Disney+ and Disney Channel, further expanding the franchise’s reach.
