Square Enix Reveals New Deus Ex Game and Mode

Before you get too excited, this isn’t a huge AAA release. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is still the only huge Deus Ex game we have to look forward to, but in a special live stream Square Enix had a lot of exciting news to share with us. They showed off about 15 minutes of new gameplay footage, but it wasn’t anything special. It was mainly walking around Adam Jensen’s apartment and some really low-key sneaking and combat. There were two killer reveals during the stream, though.

Deus Ex GO

Square Enix Montreal, the same team behind the critically acclaimed Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO games, will be releasing Deus Ex GO. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, the GO games are top-down puzzle games. You navigate through various puzzle board sets, taking out (or avoiding) enemies and, well, solving puzzles. It doesn’t sound like much, but they’re incredibly addictive and very polished. The Deus Ex variant will star Adam Jensen of course, as he utilizes stealth, combat, and augmentations to overcome what Square promises are the toughest puzzles in the series. Square Enix Montreal will also be offering a puzzle editor soon after release, so players will be able to create and share their own puzzles.

New game mode revealed

During the stream a new game mode in Mankind Divided was also revealed. It’s called Breach, and it’s a little hard to explain. Here’s how they described it in a press release: “This new take on the game offers, for the very first time, an arcade approach on the gameplay of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, providing players with a connected puzzle shooter experience. As a Ripper, your objective is to obtain and sell highly classified corporate data by infiltrating some of the world’s most secure servers, using the funds you acquire to upgrade both your skills and arsenal. As you play, the rewards you earn, including XP, credits, and booster packs, will allow you to face the increasing difficulty of the game.”

It sounds pretty cool, but it looks even cooler. If you can’t quite wrap your head around it, you can check out the trailer right here:
