From June 26 to July 3, the seven-day-long speedrunning marathon Summer Games Done Quick 2022 will be broadcasting live on Twitch, offering some of the most entertaining gaming content of the year. Whether it’s the latest and greatest AAA titles or beloved indies and retro classics, the SGDQ 2022 schedule is packed with exciting speedruns to check out. Better yet, the entire event will be raising money for Doctors Without Borders, a charity providing medical aid to those in need.
As always, we’re here to give you a glimpse at the SGDQ 2022 schedule and offer a rundown of the speedruns we can’t wait to watch. The SGDQ 2022 schedule is one of the best GDQ schedules in recent years, with a perfect variety of retro and modern speedruns that should please everyone. Sunday, June 26
SGDQ 2022 officially kicks off at 12:30 PM on Sunday with a quick pre-show before diving into the first speedrun of the event, a boss-rush of Shadow of the Colossus at 1 PM. Generally speaking, the first day is a varied mix of all sorts of speedruns, so there should be something new to check out every few hours. We’re especially excited for the Any% run of Warioware: Touched! at 3:20 PM, along with the Any% run of Mass Effect at 4:40 PM.
Sunday will be a relatively chill night of speedrunning, with games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land at 7 PM and Pokemon Snap at 9:15 PM. The final run of the day is a nostalgic doozy, so be sure to check in for the 120% speedrun of Spyro the Dragon at 10:20 PM.
Monday, June 27
Monday is the first full day of speedrunning on the SGDQ 2022 schedule, and boy are there a lot of amazing runs to watch. Right at 12 AM midnight, you can catch a speedrun of Perfect Dark on Special Agent difficulty, followed by a mixture of games like Super Dream Dasher at 3:15 AM and Super Bonk on SNES at 4:20 AM. Other retro classics occupy this pleasant morning, including a two-runner race of Blaster Master at 6:40 AM, followed by Ninja Gaiden (NES) at 7:40 AM and a co-op run of Altered Beast at 8:10 AM. Fans of Castlevania can catch a back-to-back block of vampire hunting with Super Castlevania 4 at 12:50 PM and Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance at 1:55 PM.
Monday afternoon and evening are also packed with classics, including one our of favorite PS2 games of all time, Sly 2: Band of Thieves at 3:20 PM. Nintendo fans should be sure to tune in for an Any% Glitchless race of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Switch version) at 4:00 PM. A speedrun of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Definitive Edition brings us into the evening at 8 PM, followed by a four-player run of ghost-hunting simulator Phasmophobia at 9:25 PM. If you’re up for more spooky scares, you’ll enjoy the final run of the night, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach at 10:30 PM.
Tuesday, June 28
The early morning of Tuesday is a time for horror game speedruns, starting with Silent Hill 4: The Room at 12 AM, Outlast at 1:20 AM, and OMORI at 2:10 AM. Once the sun rises and everyone’s had their coffee, you can expect some retro gems like Ninja Warriors (SNES) at 9:30 AM. This leads into a four-game block of Mega Man speedruns, starting with Mega Man Powered Up at 12 PM and ending with Mega Man 5 (NES) at 2:35 PM.
The speedruns on the SGDQ 2022 schedule for Tuesday night are all pretty lengthy, so grab yourself a snack and kick back for feature-length speedrunning. Get started early with a 4-hour-long run of Yakuza: Like a Dragon at 3:25 PM before everyone gears up for Master Chief’s latest journey with Halo Infinite at 8:05 PM. We’re amped to watch the speedrun of Half-Life: Alyx at 9:40 PM, as VR speedruns are in a league of their own. To cap off the night, you can catch the incredibly tough “Darker Side” speedrun of Super Mario Odyssey at 10:55 PM.
Wednesday, June 29
The SGDQ 2022 schedule shows no signs of slowing down on Wednesday, kicking off with a magnificent speedrun of Mini-Game Island Mode in Mario Party (N64) at 2:25 AM. Later that morning, we highly recommend tuning in for the Any% run of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King at 6:25 AM, as well as the two-runner race of Pac-Man World 2 at 8:10 AM. As noon approaches, the speed gets cranked up a notch with three Sonic speedruns, including Knuckles’ Chaotix at 11:15 AM, Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut at 12:30 PM, and Sonic Advance at 12:50 PM.
We can’t wait to watch the Any% run of beloved indie game TUNIC at 1:20 PM, while the co-op randomizer run of Pokemon Emerald is sure to bring in some quirky comedy at 3:40 PM. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is set to be a great showing at 6:50 PM, but the 120 Shine speedrun of Super Mario Sunshine at 10 PM is easily our most anticipated run of the evening.
Thursday, June 30
Thursday is yet another excellent day of speedrunning per the SDGQ 2022 schedule, kicking off with an Any% run of Banjo-Tooie at 1:15 AM. The rest of the morning is a wild mix of genres and platforms, including an All Collectables run of Devil May Cry at 2 AM, a 100% run of Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion at 5:10 AM, and some point ‘n click action with King’s Quest V (CD Version) at 9:05 AM. Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble shakes things up at 11:35 AM, while a nearly 3-hour run of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna moves us into the afternoon at 12:30 PM.
We’re amped for the wild and beautiful True Ending run of Solar Ash at 4 PM, followed by Monster Hunter Rise at 5:20 PM and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance at 7 PM. If you’re a fan of music game showcases, be sure to tune in for the unbelievable Stepmania couples exhibition at 8:20 PM, as well as the Sound Voltex Exceed Gear showcase at 9:30 PM. Thursday night wraps up with the bonafide speedrunning classic Celeste at 11 PM.
Friday, July 1
As with all GDQ marathons, the weekend of the SGDQ 2022 schedule is packed from beginning to end with must-see speedruns. We’re especially looking forward to the 100% Nightmare speedrun of Doom Eternal at 2:15 AM, the All Bosses run of Control at 4:25 AM, and the two-runner race of Chocobo GP at 10:35 AM. From there, it’s Pokemon time yet again, with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Pearl at 11:30 AM.
We return to the retro years Friday evening with a Reverse Boss Orderrun of Donkey Kong Country (SNES) at 4:15 PM, followed by the blazing-quick F-Zero GX at 5 PM. Prepare for more randomizer fun with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time at 6 PM, followed by a tool-assisted speedrun of Portal 2 at 8:40 PM. Then, it’s back to Ocarina of Time with an interesting beta showcase at 9:50 PM before fan-favorite runners gear up to take on the Super Mario World rom-hack, Celeste.SMC at 11:05 PM.
Saturday July 2
For the final day of SGDQ 2022, you might as well prepare for a solid day of speedrun binge-watching. The schedule kicks off with a relay race of Super Mario World at 12:10 AM, followed by a Wrench-Only run of Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando at 1:30 AM and a four-runner cooperative run of Left 4 Dead 2 at 3:30 AM. A hefty 4-hour speedrun of Final Fantasy X occupies most of the morning and starts at 4:30 AM, while other classics like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Super Meat Boy bring speedrunning bliss at 8:55 AM and 10:20 AM respectively. Fans of virtual reality can catch another VR speedrun with Superhot VR at 12:20 PM.
From noon on, we’ll be locked into our couches enjoying the show, with absolutely legendary runs like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker at 12:50 PM, Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World (All Five Games in 20 minutes) at 3:45 PM, and Metroid Dread at 4:15 PM. Kaizo Super Metroid continues the SGDQ tradition at 5:45 PM, followed by a must-see relay race of Super Mario Maker 2 at 8:40 PM and a 120 Star run of Super Mario 64 at 10:10PM. The final speedrun of the event is undoubtedly our most anticipated, as we’ll bask in the glory of the All Remembrances run of Elden Ring at 12:30 AM (Sunday), with a potential bonus Any% run to finish things off!
