PUBG PC Update Replaces Energy Drink, Adds New Loot Crates

An exciting new patch is on its way to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, or PUBG. The update introduces two more loot crates with new clothing options, adds more cover to both maps, changes the look of the energy drink, builds upon anti-cheating measures, and more. The patch is available now on PUBG‘s test server.

While a recent update to the Xbox One version of PUBG focused on improving the overall performance, this PC patch is bringing some more interesting changes. Since the game launched in Early Access on Steam, PUBG‘s in-game energy drink items have looked exactly like Red Bulls but without the actual logo. With this patch, the energy drinks come in an entirely new can picturing a mustachioed muscle man. Something tells me we’ll see more of this muscle man on future items and merch.

Additionally, the update introduces two new types of loot crates, which will contain Desperado and Biker cosmetic items. In order to test the stability of the new items, any player who logs into the test server will receive 100,000 BP and six Early Bird to open up some of the new loot crates.

Another big new feature of the update is the replay report tool, which allows you to tag cheaters from the replay screen.

“Starting with the current test build … you will be able to report players directly from the replay feature of our game. This means that you no longer need to be killed by a suspected cheater for you to be able to use the in-game reporting tool,” write PUBG Corp. “We encourage you to use the replay report tool as it is an effective and efficient way of making us aware of the players who are undermining your enjoyment of the game.”

For more details on the latest PUBG update, check out the Steam Community post for the full patch notes. Once all features of the patch are proven to be stable, it will be implemented into the full game.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
