PlayStation 4

Here are the PS4 Pro optimized games for launch…and beyond!

The PS4 Pro launches November 10th to change the Sony console gaming landscape, for better or worse. While not as powerful as the Scorpio, it will still offer increased specs from the base model as well as HDR and 4K possibilities. How this will effect performance of games on the base model moving forward remains to be seen. For now, Sony has just released the juicy list of 30+ games set to take advantage of the Pro on launch day. Some have the Pro enhancements tacked on through updates while others have it baked in.

Naughty Dog titles Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Remastered make sense as those  plucky devs are always on the bleeding edge of tech and used TLOS:Remastered as their first test of the PS4 hardware. Interesting to see everything from AAA blockbusters Call of Duty and Deus Ex alongside smaller projects like Firewatch and Helldivers.

And of course KNACK will be involved.

By the end of the year, another 45+ titles will see benefits from running on the Pro. This list will include Watch Dogs 2, Killing Floor 2, The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy XV. Early 2017 will bring us Resident Evil 7, For Honor, and Nioh.

Sony has also announced that starting in 2017, all first party games will see Pro support. This means Horizon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, Gran Turismo Sport, and Days Gone will be optimized in some way.

I’ve been pessimistic about Sony adding a Pro version of the console. My worst fear is that games will run worse on the base model due to developers devoting their limited resources to the new Pro and Scorpio SKUs.

Only time will tell and we don’t have much longer to find out.

Are you excited to finally play KNACK the way it was meant to be experienced?

okay

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
