Upcoming Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are coming to Nintendo 3DS later this year, and they’re bringing along a new Pokémon — Dusk Form Lycanroc.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

The Pokémon Company announced Lycanroc’s new form on their official website. Its Dusk Form features different coloration from the already existing Midday and Midnight Forms, introduced in 2016’s Pokémon Sun and Moon. While no details of stats or abilities were given, we do know Dusk Form Lycanroc won’t be found in the wild.

Both original forms of Lycanroc are Rock types, so it’s probably safe to assume its Dusk Form is too. Midday and Midnight Lycanroc’s stats vary slightly but not enough to sway you one way or the other. The Pokémon also have different move sets and abilities, so we’ll likely see something new with Dusk Lycanroc in those categories as well.

This new form will be available exclusively in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which still take place in the Alola region but with some new Pokémon and a new story. Pokémon Sun and Moon introduced Alolan Forms — new versions of existing Pokémon with varying appearances and stats, found only in Alola. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon should continue the trend, so Dusk Form Lycanroc shouldn’t be the only new form appearing in the upcoming games.

Maybe we’ll see more forms of classic Pokémon — or completely new creatures never seen before. We’ll keep you updated on the latest Pokémon news.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are due out on November 17th for Nintendo 3DS.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
