Players are already meeting and taking part in activities across The Grounds, but that early participation is producing an uneven split. Small-sided football has attracted particularly high activity, while Kickabouts is struggling to gather enough players to begin.
That small-sided activity spans 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and In-World Rush. The breadth of those options gives players several ways to divide their time, and EA says their popularity has made it harder for others to find enough participants for Kickabouts.
EA’s early data has now identified clear areas for improvement, with Kickabouts specifically among them. The interesting tension is that this is not simply a shortage of activity across The Grounds: players are meeting each other and engaging with what is available. Instead, their attention is clustering around particular forms of football strongly enough to leave another activity short of participants.
EA has not detailed what changes will follow, so the next step is less clear than the problem itself. Any response will need to address that participation imbalance: Kickabouts needs enough available players to start, while 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and In-World Rush are already proving to be the stronger draw.
