The Switch hits shelves tomorrow, March 3rd, and with it comes the Nintendo eShop and all it has to offer. Just in time, Nintendo has announced everything we’ll be able to download day one.
For an overview of the eShop’s features, Nintendo gave us this rundown: “Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service that features a wide variety of content, including new and classic games, applications and demos. Users can add money to their account balances by using a credit card or purchasing a Nintendo eShop Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card. All funds from one card must be loaded in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, but can be used in any Nintendo eShop if the systems are linked to a single Nintendo Network account.”
There’s still no sign of the Virtual Console on there just yet, but you’ll still have several promising games on the Switch eShop after that day one update.
Of course, there’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is the Switch’s main highly anticipated and widely praised launch title. You can also go ahead and purchase the $20 Expansion Pass for Breath of the Wild, which will give you access to a day one DLC, as well as two other DLC’s throughout the year.
Below I’ve listed all games Nintendo promises will be on the Switch eShop on day one, March 3rd.
Although it’s not an eShop download, Nintendo also mentioned the Switch’s free Parental Controls mobile app, which is already available on the Apple App Store and Google Play store. “While some parental controls are available on the system itself,” said Nintendo, “the app gives you even more options like push notifications for monthly play summaries and remote accessibility.”
Nintendo has promised new content will become available every week on the Switch eShop, so if you don’t see something that strikes your fancy now, maybe next week will bring something just for you. And don’t forget those indie games, over 60 of which will be downloadable from the eShop in 2017.
