nintendo eshop anniversary sale 1

The Nintendo eShop first launched on the 3DS way back on June 7, 2011. Nintendo wants to celebrate five years of eShop goodness, so it’s throwing a big sale and offering discounts on some of the best download-only games available for the 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo games hold their value extremely well. That’s really nice when you want to go trade in an old Nintendo game because you get top dollar for it. On the other hand, Nintendo very rarely holds sales, so this is a rare occasion worth taking advantage of.

So, what should you buy?

I’ve taken a look at all of the discounts, and there is some fantastic stuff here. Here are the highlights:

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons are all 50% off. Likewise the virtual console version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game is also half-off. Indie smash-hits Steamworld Dig and Gunman Clive are 50% off. On the Wii U, FAST Racing NEO is a must-play for racing fans, and it’s on sale for 25% off, while SNES classic F-Zero is half-off for virtual console. If you’re a retro lover gaming on a Wii U, then you’ll definitely be interested in NES Remix and NES Remix 2, which are both 50% off along with Earthbound.

How long does the eShop sale last?

This sale is live through June 23, so take advantage of the deals while you can. Also, don’t forget to check out our store page for more hard-to-find, retro Nintendo gems like Banjo-Kazooie and the Super Famicom version of Super Mario Kart (with box!). We’re also offering the 30th Anniversary Super Mario amiibo for $10 off, so stop by and see us while supplies last.
