A Gummy’s life by EP Games is an arena based fighting game that feels very similar to Gang Beasts and other games in this genre. Players control a gummy with the aim of defeating enemies in combat or just surviving the longest across a range of different arenas.

Arenas

Each arena has a unique twist which may not be too obvious at first. As a result, the game can be a little bit frustrating. Although, when you’re playing with a group of friends, it’s great fun and very entertaining. Each map is very memorable but the unique twists do come with a downside. Players quickly learn how to deal with the challenges of each map and the game can become a little bit tedious when that happens. Playing with a group of friends certainly helps to counter-act this however.

Gummy Stats

While A Gummy’s Life is a little bit of a chaotic mess when players first start playing the game, there’s actually a bit more depth to this game than others in this genre. Each type of playable gummy has different stats for attack and defence. This gives them a certain ‘playstyle’ for players to explore. Some types of gummies are better at defence while others are much more aggressive. This is something that’s easy to miss at the start of the game but begins to become more apparent after a few hours of play.

A Gummy’s Life Early Access

A Gummy’s Life is currently in Early Access so the game is still in active development. As a result, there are a few things that aren’t in the game just yet. The biggest issue right now is the fact that players cannot adjust the controls or even view which button does what. This is something that players will need to explore as they play the game. While most moves are easy to discover, certain ones such as grabbing are a little more awkward to find. This is something that the developers will be adding at a later date. For now it’s certainly still playable.

PVP? Come at me!

This game is certainly a local PVP orientated game but players can set up a game with up to 15 AI opponents. This is great for people who are looking to practice before laying against friends or for people who lack people to play with. It would be nice to have an online multiplayer mode in the future however. In addition to this, it’s also possible to start a game solo without any AI or other players. While this defeats the point of the game it does let players test out each map without the threat of an opponent.

A Gummy's Life Puddi Puddi

A Gummy’s Life is a great little arena fighting game and while the developers still have a lot to do, there’s enough content in the game to keep it fun for hours. Players can expect to see new arenas and playable gummy’s coming in the future in addition to an adjustable control screen.

The game is now available on Steam. Check out the trailer below!
