Playground Games presented a new Fable story trailer during the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase and confirmed that the RPG was planned for release in 2025. The game was announced for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, with Steam and day-one Game Pass availability. Eidos-Montréal was also confirmed as a development partner.
The trailer introduced retired hero Humphry, played by Matt King, and returned to the series’ mix of British comedy, fairy-tale fantasy and player choice. The official title is simply Fable, rather than Fable 4.
What the 2024 presentation confirmed
- Platforms: Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.
- Availability: Steam and day-one Game Pass were listed.
- Release target: 2025 was the announced window at the time.
- Development: Playground Games leads the project with support from Eidos-Montréal.
Playground did not announce console resolution, framerate or ray-tracing targets during this presentation. Claims about dynamic 4K, a locked 60fps mode, variable-rate shading or detailed NPC simulation therefore cannot be treated as specifications.
The useful technical story was restraint: this was a narrative trailer, not a performance analysis. The project’s final image quality, frame pacing and rendering modes would need either developer documentation or measured release code.
