Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved will lose its official Nintendo Switch servers on August 31, 2026. The game will remain available, while single-player and unofficial servers will continue after the shutdown.
Nintendo Everything reports that the closure affects official servers for both ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Ultimate Survivor Edition. Players using those worlds have only a couple of weeks to decide how they want to continue.
What the ARK Switch shutdown affects
The official-server network will go offline on August 31. According to the announcement reported by Nintendo Everything, more than one million players have explored those servers since the original Switch release in 2018 and the launch of Grove Street Games’ rebuilt Switch remaster in 2022.
The change targets official servers only. Single-player and unofficial servers will remain fully playable after the closure, giving players alternatives if they want to keep playing on Switch.
ARK will remain available on Nintendo Switch
The shutdown will not delist ARK from the Nintendo eShop. The announcement says ownership will not be impacted, and existing owners will continue to access everything outside the official servers as normal.
That leaves a clear choice for players who currently use official online worlds: move to an unofficial server or continue in single-player. The game itself is not being removed, but communities built around the official network will need to make new arrangements before the cutoff.
What Switch players should do before August 31
Players who want to preserve their current plans should use the remaining time to coordinate a move to an unofficial server or prepare to continue alone. Those relying on official servers will lose access to that network when it closes.
