Depending on when you’re reading this, AGDQ 2024 may still be live and in full gear, so check their Twitch channel if you want to watch the event as it unfolds. If you want your mind blown by impressive speedruns direct from AGDQ 2024, start by checking out a few of our favorites.

Fantastic AGDQ 2024 Speedruns You Need to Watch

Ultimate Doom (UV-Speed) by ZELLLOOO

We have Doom to thank for the evolution of the early speedrunning scene, so it felt appropriate that AGDQ 2024 featured this “UV-Speed” run early in the marathon. Played at its highest level by runner ZELLLOOO, this classic 1980s FPS is unbelievably fast, brutally difficult, and a great first speedrun to check out if you’re new to AGDQ 2024. Clocking in at just over 20 minutes, check out this AGDQ 2024 speedrun over your next break for a dose of ultra-fast FPS.

Final speedrun time: 23 minutes, 21 seconds

Worms Reloaded (Campaign, No Level Skips) by Mablack

The Worms franchise is one of those classic strategy series that toes the line between serious gameplay and goofy comedy, often to great success. In this full speedrun of the entire Worms Reloaded campaign, runner Mablack showed off some wild tactics, blasting through over 30 levels of wormy warfare. Between the bonkers bazooka shots and masterful ninja rope usage, this Worms Reloaded run is a great choice for an AGDQ 2024 speedrun that features both thoughtful strategy and crazy tricks.

Final speedrun time: 41 minutes, 54 seconds

Whiplash (Any%) by Jaxler

Sometimes, the best speedruns of AGDQ are lesser-known games that provide a constant state of surprise and awe. That was the case with Jaxler’s “Any%” run of Whiplash, a platforming game created by the same developers as Gex and Tomb Raider. Simply put, Jaxler utterly breaks this game to the maximum potential, skipping nearly 90% of the levels with some incredibly precise platforming and out-of-bounds glitches. If you want to see an AGDQ 2024 speedrun that is equally hilarious and impressive, check out Whiplash!

Final speedrun time: 24 minutes, 8 seconds

Arkanoid (Any%) by chessjerk

Arkanoid is a deceptively challenging NES game that’s all about bouncing a ball around a screen with a paddle in order to clear blocks, all while collecting various power-ups capsules. It sounds easy, but chessjerk showed off just how challenging Arkanoid can be, especially as it enters the later stages. Even without the excellent commentary, this speedrun of Arkanoid from AGDQ 2024 is remarkably easy to understand at first glance, offering pure retro gameplay at breakneck speeds.

Final speedrun time: 31 minutes, 11 seconds

Mario Kart Wii (32 Track Skips) by LoganUs

Whether you’re completely new to Mario Kart speedrunning or have seen several before, this “32 Track Skips” run by LoganUs is a wonderful watch. Playing as Funky Kong, LoganUs sped through all of the game’s tracks, showing off intense shortcuts, checkpoint glitches, and stellar driving overall. This is also an excellent run for Mario Kart speedrunning newcomers, as the commentary is informative, excitable, and engaging throughout.

Final speeedrun time: 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 6 seconds

Resident Evil 2 Remake (Claire 1st Hardcore No Damage) by CarcinogenSDA

Resident Evil 2 Remake is a tough game, but CarcinogenSDA is not your everyday speedrunner. An absolute master of the franchise, CarcinogenSDA tucked in for a self-described “smooth run”, where the objective was to beat the game without taking a single point of damage. To spoil this run would be a sin, so if you’re a fan of Resident Evil, it’s a must-watch, full stop. The tension felt across this run was palpable and kept us biting our nails well into the early morning hours of AGDQ 2024.

Final speedrun time: 1 hour, 27 minutes, 57 seconds

Super Mario 64 (16 Star Drum%) by CZR_drums

If you watch speedruns at all, there’s a good chance you’ve seen a Super Mario 64 run at some point. However, you may not have seen one of CZR’s “Drum%” runs, which are absolutely ridiculous and metal-as-hell. As implied, this is a 16-star route speedrun of Super Mario 64, except the game is played with a full, actual drum set instead of a controller. Watching CZR flawlessly perform glitches while gleefully drumming during downtime makes this an absolute highlight of AGDQ 2023. It’s far from traditional speedrunning, but it sure is entertaining.

Final speedrun time: 23 minutes, 6 seconds

AGDQ 2024 has been awesome so far, but it’s not over yet! You can catch every single speedrun of the marathon on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel, or check out their Twitch channel for the live marathon and other events. We’ll have another update once AGDQ 2024 wraps up this weekend, so enjoy the marathon while you can!
