After seven days straight of speedrunning for charity, Awesome Games Done Quick 2024 came to an end this weekend. Overall, it was an amazing week that was absolutely jam-packed with high-quality runs, excellent commentary, and all-around cheerful vibes. As the timer stopped on the final speedrun, AGDQ 2024 raised over $2,500,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, once again showcasing the immense generosity of the gaming community at large.
In case you missed all the wonderful AGDQ 2024 speedruns, we’ve whipped up a short list of some of our favorites for you to check out. Like with our previous AGDQ 2024 wrap-up, the speedruns listed here are meant as a place for viewers to leapfrog from, as there are dozens of speedruns to pick from. We definitely didn’t have the time to watch every run at AGDQ 2024, so you’re bound to find plenty of speedrun gems on your own! The entire AGDQ 2024 speedrun marathon is available on the GamesDoneQuick YouTube channel as a playlist, so be sure to check it out for any additional runs you’d like to see. We’d like to extend our gratitude to all the runners, organizers, and volunteers who helped make AGDQ 2024 possible, as this year was tons of fun.
The “Awful Games Done Quick” block is one of our favorite AGDQ traditions, where the marathon derails for a few hours, offering some great speedruns of horrendous games. From start to finish, the Awful Games block is worth watching, as it’s full of hectic fun and hilarious titles.
We especially enjoyed Fort Boyard: The Challenge, as well as the painfully bad 2023 release, Skull Island: Rise of Kong. The Awful Block always provides a consistent tone of chaotic surprise, making it one of the quirkiest sections of AGDQ 2024.

Out of all of the 3D Super Mario games, Sunshine might be the top contender for the most complex movement options, right up there next to Super Mario Odyssey. Showing his endurance and ultimate mastery of the game’s movement over nearly 3 hours, sblectric put on a Super Mario Sunshine clinic, destroying secret levels and pulling off remarkably hard movement tricks in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it fashion. The excitable couch commentary keeps things lively for the entire run, so if you like Super Mario Sunshine and you want to see it played at the top level, this is the AGDQ 2024 speedrun for you.

Although this AGDQ 2024 speedrun was initially intended to be played on “Easy” difficulty, a classic donation incentive pushed that up to the infamous “Legendary” difficulty, resulting in a hell of a show. NervyDestroyed and Helpless showed off impeccable cooperation as they nailed remarkably precise tricks, falling into a tandem dance of Covenant destruction. By playing on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the runners pull off some pretty cool out-of-bounds tricks as well, which are always fun to see. Without a doubt, Halo is one of the best speedgames of all time, and this AGDQ 2024 speedrun is one for the books.

It’s been 8 years since a “100% Relay” of Majora’s Mask has been featured at AGDQ 2024, and a lot has changed in that time. Working together as a community to discover new exploits and then showcasing them as a team on-stage at AGDQ, Marco8641, morpheus080, popesquidward, and dopezzera all did an excellent job during their designated cycles. The coordination between players, expert gameplay with only minor glitches for aid, and a long list of tasks to complete make Majora’s Mask as complicated as it is impressive. Clocking in at nearly 5 hours long, this is an AGDQ 2024 speedrun to watch during prime comfy hours. We won’t spoil it, but the last boss fight contains some blindfolded cooperation the likes of which you’ve likely never seen.

Star Fox 64 is an all-time classic for us, so watching adamx0315 tear through this on-rails adventure was incredibly cathartic. In this “2K%” category speedrun, the runner must score at least 2,000 points (which is no easy task) while beating the game as fast as possible, forcing a balance of risk and speed. To add a bit of chaos to the run, a donation incentive was thrown in, requiring the runner to shoot down his teammates once each before the run’s end. Some pretty smooth flying and sniper-like aim from the runner combined with upbeat and informative commentary make this AGDQ 2024 Star Fox 64 speedrun a nostalgic treat.

For us, speedruns of 2D Super Mario games will always be entertaining to watch, and this “All Levels” race between Kosmic and GTAce is another instance of that personal truth. To put it lightly, The Lost Levels is a challenging game, but both Kosmic and GTAce navigated its perilous jumps and awkward enemy placement with definite skill. Generally speaking, there were far fewer speedrun races during this marathon, so we enjoyed getting a taste of competition during this run of The Lost Levels at AGDQ 2024.

Yet again, AGDQ 2024 was another excellent speedrun marathon from Games Done Quick, offering seven days of entertainment, all for a good cause. While we weren’t able to catch as much as the marathon as we would’ve liked, the runs we saw blew us away.
