Xbox One X is Released Worldwide

Launch day for the Xbox One X is finally here. Microsoft’s newest console is said to be the most powerful on the market, surpassing the capacity of Sony’s PS4 Pro. Now that the Xbox One X is released worldwide for a whopping $499.99 USD, you can decide if you want to pick one up and play some of the games that have been specially enhanced to take advantage of the console’s specs.

So what makes the Xbox One X so powerful? The CPU is said to be 30% faster than that of the original Xbox One, while the GPU is 4.6 times more powerful than its predecessor. It is capable of delivering native 4K visuals thanks to a 6 teraflop GPU, compared to the PS4 Pro’s 4.6 teraflops. All that tech gives games faster load times, more realistic visuals, and smoother gameplay.

Next question: What games take advantage of the Xbox One X’s power? You can play any Xbox One game, as well as all those Xbox 360 games available through backwards compatibility, but only a select number have received a patch for enhanced Xbox One X gameplay. Some newer titles like Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Forza Motorsport 7, and Call of Duty: WWII are ready for Microsoft’s new console, in addition to some older games like The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Gears of War 4.

Not all enhanced titles will take advantage of the whole trinity of Xbox One X features — native 4K, 60fps performance, and HDR support — as it’s up to developers to decide how to best update their games for the powerhouse console. We recommend checking your favorite games’ websites to see what improvements they are making to see if they’re worth bringing to the X.

The Xbox One X is available worldwide from Microsoft and many retailers.

Mischa McGill

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
