Twitch Prime Now Gives Free Games to Members Every Month

  • March 15, 2018
  • Mischa McGill

A nice new perk has just been added to Twitch Prime — free video games! Starting March 15th, members of the Twitch Prime service will receive a handful of PC games free of charge, and they’re yours to keep forever!

Twitch announced the Free Games with Prime initiative yesterday in a post on the streaming platform’s blog, along with the first two collections of games they will be giving away. This adds to the existing list of benefits Twitch Prime members receive, including ad-free viewing, in-game loot, channel subscriptions, and the occasional game.

Starting Thursday, March 15th, Prime members can download the PC versions of Superhot, Shadow Tactics, Tales from the Candlekeep, Oxenfree, and Mr. Shifty. Superhot and Oxenfree are two critically acclaimed titles — the first a unique first-person shooter and the latter a narrative mystery adventure. This collection of games will be available March 15th through the 31st.

The list of free games for April was also revealed to include Tales from the Borderlands, SteamWorld Dig 2, Kingsway, Tokyo 42, and Dubwars. This list will go live April 1st, though an end date was not given. (We’d imagine it’d be April 30th.) That’s ten free games in total, and more will come every month.

Additionally, if you want to check out any of the Free Games with Prime in action, streamers ElegyofGames and seriouslyclara will regularly show off the selected titles through July on their streams Sundays at 6:00 p.m. PT and Mondays at 8:30 p.m. PT starting on March 25th and 26th respectively.

Amazon and Twitch launched the Twitch Prime program in 2016. A subscription to Twitch Prime is included with a membership to Amazon Prime, which costs $99 annually or $12.99 monthly.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
