The indie lineup is filling out nicely for the Switch, and it sounds like there are many more to come.
Earlier today, Nintendo sent out a press release which detailed some Switch eShop features, as well as new indie launch games. Read all about the eShop information in our article here.
Nintendo also revealed some new Nindie launch titles today: Shin’en Multimedia’s Fast RMX racing competition and two Shovel Knight games from Yacht Club Games, Specter of Torment and Treasure Trove. Fast RMX is exclusive to the Switch, while the other two are exclusive only for a limited time.
The press release also mentioned that the Switch eShop will feature over 60 indie titles during its first year. A few indie titles–or as Nintendo is calling them, “Nindies”–we already know about include Yooka-Laylee, Stardew Valley, Rime, Little Inferno, Seasons of Heaven, and The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth +. The Binding of Isaac was supposed to be a launch title but has been recently delayed by the developer.
Nintendo promised the Switch would be heavy on support for third-party and indie developers, and it’s great to see the results of that support.
I’m looking forward to browsing the eShop for fun indie games to download to my Switch, though I worry about the burden that will place on the console’s scarce 32 GB storage.
Finally, Nintendo announced an upcoming live video presentation for Tuesday, February 28th, at 9:00 a.m. PST, 12:00 p.m. EST. Called the Nindie Showcase, you’ll be able to view the livestream at live.nintendo.com, but we’ll be sure to give you a rundown of the event in case you miss it.
