Teslagrad’s Sequel World to the West Gets Release Date in Gameplay Trailer

Puzzle platformer Teslagrad’s standalone sequel World to the West is set to release on May 5th for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Wii U, according to a new gameplay trailer, posted above.

Though it’s based in the same non-linear world as TeslagradWorld to the West features 3D top-down gameplay instead of 2D side-scrolling action. The art style has a more digital feel to it and reminds me of a simpler version of Fantasy Life for the 3DS.

Players will take control of four different heroes in their World to the West journey. The characters will all have different nationalities and abilities to help you along your way.

According to the trailer, you’ll play as the Mindbender, who can hypnotize and control enemies; the Strongman Aristocrat, who packs a powerful punch; the Scrappy Survivor, who is better at sneaking past the action; and the Teslamancer, who moves quickly and can likely cast magical attacks.

The game’s website boasts World to the West’s “seamless transitions between combat and puzzle solving,” but you don’t even have to engage in combat. The abilities of the four heroes will come in handy with different strategies, but any enemy can either be fought or avoided.

Though World to the West is releasing on all previously mentioned platforms, the Wii U version will only be available on the Nintendo eShop. No word on a Switch version in development.

The game’s digital versions will cost $19.99 for PC and $24.99 for consoles. If you want the retail version, you’ll have to buy it directly from publisher Soedesco at the same PC price but at $29.99 for consoles.

Do you like the different direction World to the West has taken? Let us know in the comments!

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
