Telltale confirms Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 is real

Earlier this week we posted an article that Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 had been leaked. Well Telltale has now confirmed that the leak was real and that the game is coming soon.

Telltale now confirms the Minecraft: Story Mode will be getting a second season this year. This new season will be a five-part episodic game that follows Jesse and her friends on new adventures. The group have just begun to accept their new responsibilities after the events of the first game. However, Telltale states that newcomers will also be able to play the game.

The developer confirmed that the leak from the Australian Classification Board (ACB) was indeed correct. The first episode for the game is “Hero in Residence” and the developer is yet to reveal more information on the new season. Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 will be launching on July 11th as a digital title. However, Telltale confirms that a physical release will be coming later this year in the Fall time.

While the game is single player it will also feature Telltale’s “Crowd Play” multiplayer component. This allows other players to have a say in the game and help push the story forwards by making choices and decisions on their mobile phone.

Season 2 will be launching for PC, PS4, Xbox One and mobile devices next month. Sadly, there’s no mention of a Nintendo Switch version of the game just yet. Telltale has confirmed that a Nintendo Switch version of the first season will be coming very soon. As a result, we can expect the developer to eventually release this new season for the Switch platform also.

It’s possible that Telltale will reveal some more details on Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 at E3 next week.

We will keep you updated as we learn more about the game and other Telltale works.
