Swiss retailer leaks the Assassin’s Creed Empire release time

A Swiss retailer seems to have leaked the release date for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game. Various rumors and leaks have dubbed the game “Assassin’s Creed Empire” and state that the game will be set in Ancient Egypt. Ubisoft hasn’t released any comments about the game so far but the developer is expected to reveal it soon.

According to Wold of Games (WoG), the next Assassin’s Creed will be released in the fourth quarter of the year. This prospective release date matches the typical release time for the main games in the series. Previous games have been released in October/November and this new game seems to be set for a release date then also.

The leak doesn’t reveal any new information about the game. The sale page on the website only calls the game “Assassin’s Creed 2017”. While this does confirm that a new game is coming this year, it doesn’t reveal any new images.

The store page does allow people to pre-order the game. According to the store page, the next Assassin’s Creed game will be a single player. This is a step back to the classic single player games which the games had begun to move away from.

WoG confirms that the next game in the AC series will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The store page doesn’t mention the Nintendo Switch so it looks like the game won’t be released for the Nintendo console. This hasn’t been confirmed by Ubisoft though so it’s possible that the developer will release a Nintendo Switch version in the future. Hopefully the developer will clarify this later in the year.
