Plan Your 2020 Vacation for Super Mario World at Universal Studios Japan

Japan just got even better with Super Nintendo World.

We now have an exciting follow-up from Nintendo’s partnership with Universal Studios announcement. The video game company has revealed the first themed area at Universal Studios Japan will be called Super Nintendo World. Nintendo says it will be open in time for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games. Great news, right?

More details were revealed in a press release from Nintendo.

“Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo’s most popular characters and games.” The statement goes on to say that the project will exceed 50 billion Yen. It will be built in the area of the existing car park and space reserved for expansion. The nintendo-themed area will be a great boost for the local and national economy of Japan.

Judging from the artwork we can assume Bowser’s Castle, Peach’s Palace and Mario World levels will be featured. Along with characters from the games which Nintendo also mentioned in its statement.

“Super Nintendo World will feature characters and themes from the “Super Mario” series, which has continued over the years to win the hearts of devoted fans around the world. The attraction area will also feature a variety of other globally popular Nintendo characters. Nintendo characters and the worlds they inhabit will be re-created at the highest level of quality through the strong partnership between Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, Creative Fellow at Nintendo, and Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative, renowned for creative and technical excellence.”

There are also themed areas for Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood confirmed but details are yet to be announced. We’ll keep you updated once there are further announcements.
