If you pre-ordered Prey for the PS4 you might not have received the 10% discount currently offered via PS Plus. Sony is aware of this error and is attempting to refund the 10% to affected customers. They’ve been sending this message:

In USD it works out to $6.99. Not a ton of money but an fantastic gesture of goodwill towards their customer base.

If you pre-ordered Prey but didn’t receive this message or a refund, make sure to check your account to see if you paid full price.

Now, what to spend that $7 USD / $9.56 CAN on?

Golden Week and the Star Wars sale are the biggies on PSN at the moment.

Crypt of the Necrodancer’s regular price of $14.99 has been slashed to just $3.74! It’s a unique rythm-based rogue-like. Move to the beat while surviving intense dungeons. I took it for a spin and had a great time. A truly unique experience, and there aren’t enough good rythm games. Also, try Thumper if you’re looking for a seriously intense rythm challenge (it’s $26.99 CAD at the moment).

The Three Fourths Home/ Paranautical Activity bundle is 75% off at $4.37 CAN. I can only speak for Three Fourths Home, but it was a tremendous narrative experience. Although quite short, it’s worth a few bucks.

If you have a PSP or Vita, you can grab Battlefront II for just $2.49. I have zero knowledge to the quality of this one but my love for PS2 Battlefront, disappointment in the reboot, and the insane price felt like a no-brainer. To put it simply, I’ve spent more on less. This was worth the risk.

Speaking of Prey, our reviewer Matthew Owen is 15 hours in and should have his review on the site fairly soon. He’ll talk with me on the next episode of GameThinktTalk as well. I won’t give anything away, but he sounds fairly positive on the experience so far.

That’s it for now.

Mathew Falvai

Mathew is a huge fan of Space, Strategy, and Shadowrun (Genesis version is #1). When it comes to games and films, he’d much rather experience a 10/10 classic from yesteryear than a 6/10 modern blandfest. He does feel we’re living in a gaming golden age with the power of indie developers at an all-time high, but wishes AAA publishers would take more risks. Mat believes it’s only a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way and new ideas take their rightful place above reboots.
