We’re really digging this crossover.
Yooka-Laylee is looking better and better with each update. This old-school platformer from Playtonic is brought to you by the creative talent behind classics like Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country. Fans saw enormous promise early on, which is evident from the Kickstarter campaign that attracted over 80,000 backers.
Typically it’s Playtonic coming to us with an exciting update or new trailer that blows our minds. Today, it’s Yacht Club Games with an exciting Yooka-Laylee update. That’s right – you know what’s coming. “We’re super excited to announce the blue fellow with horns will be teaming up with the green bloke with no pants! That’s right- Shovel Knight will be digging in to the highly anticipated 3D platforming collect-em-up, Yooka-Laylee!” You can catch our chivalrous shoveler toward the tail-end of this new character trailer below:[fvplayer src=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYJjeQcqcyw” width=”560″ height=”315″]
Yacht Club Games revealed that it supplied the 3D model (and weird voice part) for Shovel Knight, while Playtonic handled the animations. They even hinted that we might see Shovel Knight in 3D again some day. “Who knows… maybe one day we’ll see Shovel Knight running and jumping around his very own 64-styled adventure! Wouldn’t that be neat?”
Yes. Yes that would be neat. In the meantime, look for him in Yooka-Laylee when it launches next March.
