Summer Games Done Quick Games List Announced!

It’s a good time to get your speed run hype started, because the games list for Summer Games Done Quick 2017 has just been released.  The speed running marathon, which lasts seven consecutive days, will be taking place from July 2nd to the 9th in Minneapolis.  As the sibling marathon to the massively successful Awesome Games Done Quick, SGDQ is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting week of speed running.  The entire marathon will be streamed live on Twitch, where viewers will donate towards charity.

A 4 Man Super Metroid Race at AGDQ.

For a solid 192 straight hours of speed running, top runners will be beating their favorite games lightning quick in hopes of raising funds for charity.  Awesome Games Done Quick 2017, which took place a few months back, collected a whopping 2.2 million dollars for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.  Summer Games Done Quick 2017 will be benefiting Doctors Without Borders, meaning all donations during the week will go towards their efforts.

Seven straight days and nights is a lot of time to fill, and the game list released today is jam packed with amazing runs.  To be honest, it’s one of the best looking lists I’ve seen from Games Done Quick in a while.  The list of games that will be speed ran is subject to change, and the official schedule is set to release on April 22nd.  I’m particularly excited for quite a few, so let’s take a look at some of the great speed runs we’ll be watching come summer.

That’s hardly the entire collection of games that will be played at SGDQ 2017.  You can see the full list of games right here.  Judging by my picks alone, it’s easy to see just how crazy the Games Done Quick events have gotten since their inception several years ago.  From Zelda: Link to the Past with no sword, all the way to NieR: Automata, SGDQ 2017 has some pretty outrageous categories.

It’s going to be hard to sleep that week, as many of these runs stretch late into the night.  I’ll be covering the truly craziest ones right here at a90skid.com, so be sure to check back as we get closer to show time!  Until then, you can check out previous GDQ runs at their YouTube channel.  Here’s a favorite of mine from AGDQ 2017.
