Rumor: Little Nightmares Being Ported to Nintendo Switch

  • February 26, 2018
  • Mischa McGill

Little Nightmares is coming to the Nintendo Switch, if some new evidence is to be believed. Developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco, the spooky puzzle-platformer was received well on PS4, Xbox One, and PC last year. The game is haunting, engaging, and atmospheric — a perfect fit for Nintendo’s hybrid console, in this writer’s opinion.

The first bit of evidence of a Little Nightmares Switch port came from Russian Reddit user schizolingvo, who claims his store received a Nintendo mailing list that included Little Nightmares. The post mentions a physical copy, not just digital, and a retail price is of 2999 RUB, which is about $40 USD.

A more recent piece of information comes from an Engine Software programmer’s LinkedIn page, pictured above (via ResetEra). Peter Maandag lists his current job at the company, where he is “working on porting Little Nightmares to Nintendo Switch, using Unreal Engine 4.” Dutch studio Engine Software has been responsible for the Monopoly, Rive: Ultimate Edition, and Oceanhorn Switch ports, so it would make sense for them to handle porting Little Nightmares.

Here is the game summary from Tarsier Studios: “Help Six escape The Maw – a vast, mysterious vessel inhabited by corrupted souls looking for their next meal. As you progress on your journey, explore the most disturbing dollhouse offering a prison to escape from and a playground full of secrets to discover. Reconnect with your inner child to unleash your imagination and find the way out!”

The Switch port has not been officially confirmed, but we will keep you updated with the latest news around this exciting rumor. For more detailed thoughts on the atmospheric horror game, check out our full review of Little Nightmares.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
