Rocket League is changing the game with Dropshot Mode

The soccer-based vehicle sport game Rocket League is mixing up the soccer part of its equation with a new gameplay mode called Dropshot, launching on March 22^nd.

Dropshot is a reinventive play mode with an electrified ball and less-than-stable floors. In fact, the whole point of the mode is to blow holes in the opposing team’s floor to create goals. The destruction is necessary since the hexagonal arena, called Core 707, lacks traditional goal posts. Players can knock out the floor panels by hitting floor panels twice with the electrified ball.

Luckily, players’ vehicles can’t fall into the holes—only the ball. And once a ball makes it into a gap to score, the floor resets to be whole again.

That new electrified ball also has three different power levels, which are reached by keeping the ball in the air for longer. While the first level allows the ball to only damage one floor tile at a time, levels two and three can hit seven and nineteen panels, respectively.

It’s important to note that the ball will sport the color of the team that last touched it, and it can only be knocked into a hole on the opposing team’s side of the arena.
