Harmonix has just revealed the release date for the next game in the Rock Band series. The new title is Rock Band VR which is exclusive to the Oculus Rift. The developer hasn’t confirmed if the game will be coming to other VR headsets in the future.

The tracks shown in the above video have been confirmed to be in the core music for the new game. Harmonix has also revealed some of the features that are included in the game.

While this game places emphasis on performing a live music show, it does feature the Classic Mode from older games. Outside of the Classic Mode, players will be able to create their own songs during performances if they wish. Players will have total freedom to create their own music or follow the sequences on the screen to perform existing songs.

In addition to the Classic Mode, the leaderboards will return to the game. Players will be able to compete to earn stars for each song in the game. Rock Band VR will also feature a number of song DLC packs for players to perfect. Harmonix will release more news about the DLC for the game as the release date approaches.

Over 60 songs have been confirmed to be in Rock Band VR at launch but only a handful of songs have been confirmed so far.

The Amazon page for the new game confirms that it will ship with a Xbox One or PlayStation 4 controller. The game will require an additional guitar peripheral and the Oculus Rift motion controllers to play.

Rock Band VR has been confirmed for the PC via the Oculus Rift. The game will be released on March 23rd. Harmonix hasn’t released any information about the possible release of the game for other VR headsets just yet. Hopefully the developer will port the game in the future. We will bring you more news as it’s revealed later this year.
