The next limited-time game mode for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is here, and it’s bringing flare guns to the desert map. This particular event will be playable this weekend only, so slide into a squad in Event Mode if you want to get in on the action.
PUBG began testing its new Event Mode last week with a simple eight-person squad match but with the promise of more exciting custom games in the future. Similar to Fortnite‘s Limited Time Modes, PUBG‘s Event Mode is meant to shake up the battle royale matches with new game parameters, and each type of match will only be playable during a specific time window.
This time around, PUBG‘s Event Mode adds a flare gun to the Miramar map in four-person squads. If you find the flare gun, fire it off to bring a care package directly to your squad’s location. The crate will always contain two care package weapons and level 3 armor, among other supplies. As noted in the Steam Community post about the game mode, a limited amount of flare guns will only spawn in small single-story houses throughout the map.
Right now, flare guns are only available in PUBG‘s Event Mode, which you can play by changing the Match type to “Event” instead of “Classic” on the home screen. The wording of the Steam post made it sound like flare guns might make their way to public matches in the future, so keep an eye out.
The Flare Gun Event Mode is live now and will be available until April 1st at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET. For more information, check out the event’s announcement post and PUBG‘s Event Mode FAQ.
