Sadly not a Game of Thrones crossover event.

Pokémon GO

Get your Pokéballs ready, kids. A new event is coming to app game Pokémon GO, and details of its features have just leaked.

This news comes from Team Evolution, who has leaked accurate information on Pokémon GO several times in the past. The upcoming event is reportedly boosting spawn rates of Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon in the wild for summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

Of course this isn’t yet confirmed by the company, but Team Evolution revealed the below Niantic announcement piece on the event.

“Trainers,

With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

—The Pokémon GO team”

While the leak is exciting, it’s also pretty straightforward. In addition to the population boom for Fire and Ice Pokémon, players will also get extra XP when catching Pokémon with special throws and when hatching Eggs.

In case you don’t know the Pokédex off the top of your head, the Pokémon you’ll be seeing more of during this event are listed below.

Fire:

  • Charmander / Charmeleon / Charizard
  • Vulpix / Ninetails
  • Growlithe / Arcanine
  • Ponyta / Rapidash
  • Magmar
  • Flareon
  • Cyndaquil / Quilava / Typhlosion
  • Slugma / Magcargo
  • Houndoor / Houndoom

Ice:

  • Dewgong
  • Cloyster
  • Jynx
  • Lapras
  • Sneasel
  • Swinub / Piloswine

If this leak proves true, the Pokémon GO Fire and Ice event will kick off June 13th and last until June 20th. We’ll keep you updated on the latest.

Mischa grew up with video games and still has a deep love for many - especially fun, colorful RPGs. Some of her favorites include Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Civilization V, and Stardew Valley. She loves nights in with her boyfriend cooking Mexican food, watching Studio Ghibli movies, and going head-to-head in their favorite games. Mischa might not beat you in Super Smash Bros, but she owns a replica of Arwen’s sword and Hermione’s wand, so... don’t rub it in too much.
