PlayStation Now and Controller Adaptor Coming to PC

Your PC is about to become the ultimate PS4 companion device.

Excellent news for PS4 gamers with laptops today! We had mentioned previously that the PlayStation Now service would most likely be coming to PC. Today, Sony revealed through a post on the US PlayStation Blog that this is actually happening. PlayStation Now will be rolling out for PC in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands tomorrow, and will come to the US some time soon thereafter.

With PlayStation Now hundreds of the best PS3 games will be available to stream straight to your PC. We’re talking The Last of Us, The God of War series, Uncharted 1-3, Shadow of the Colossus, and more. Even if you don’t have the greatest connection, you could probably just avoid fighting games and first-person shooters. RPGs would still be perfectly enjoyable with a bit of input lag. Those of you with great connections and pings, the whole PS Now library should stream flawlessly.

To sweeten the pot, Sony has also unveiled a brand new USB wireless adaptor for the DualShock 4 controller. “This adaptor will let you connect a DualShock 4 to PC and Mac wirelessly, and will enable every feature of the controller you know and love: buttons, analog sticks, touch pad, light bar, motion sensors, vibration, and stereo headset jack – as long as the gaming application supports these features.” The adaptor will be available early in September for $25 USD.

Don’t forget that you can also play your PS4 games on your computer via remote play, so that controller adaptor will come in handy for that as well. If you have a good router and a decent laptop, you’ll be set. Imagine laying in bed with your laptop and having your whole PS4 library plus hundreds of the best PS3 games right at your fingertips. You can play them all wirelessly and with headphones plugged straight into your controller. I gotta say: it’s a pretty great time to be a PlayStation gamer.
